Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board has announced the appointment of Lorraine Byrnes as the new Deputy Principal at Kilkee Community College. Lorraine brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and leadership skills to her new role, which will contribute to the continued success of the school.
Lorraine holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Home Economics and Religious Education from St. Angela’s College, Sligo. She has further enhanced her qualifications with a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management from NUI Maynooth and the Clare Education Centre, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Law and Education from the Honorable Society of King’s Inns, Dublin.
Before joining Kilkee Community College, Lorraine served as Assistant Principal in the areas of School Self-Evaluation and Planning, where she was instrumental in developing initiatives that enhanced school outcomes and supported student learning. She also held the position of Assistant Principal Year Head, guiding students through both academic and personal challenges. Most recently, Lorraine served as Acting Deputy Principal at Dominican College, Taylor’s Hill, Galway, where she gained invaluable experience in school management, overseeing day-to-day operations while supporting both staff and students.
Speaking about Lorraine’s appointment, Agnes Hehir, Principal of Kilkee Community College, said: “I congratulate Lorraine on her appointment and I look forward to Lorraine joining our team of dedicated staff and working closely with her. I also look forward to working in partnership with her as we lead our staff to continue the development of our school for the benefit of our staff, students, parents and wider community.”
