The heritage of East Clare celebrated in Scariff

The outcome of a joint heritage initiative between Clare County Council, Clare Museum and the Limerick & Clare Education & Training Board (LCETB) will be presented at the Scariff FET Centre on Tuesday 5 June next at 7.00pm.

The community showcase, entitled ‘Reading Your Local Landscape, will celebrate the learning outcomes of a heritage course delivered in Scariff FET Centre by Heritage Consultant, Zena Hoctor. The practical course included an introduction to geology, biodiversity, archaeology and natural heritage enabling participants to identify, examine and record heritage features of the Scariff, Tuamgraney, Broadford and Mountshannon areas through a combination of fieldwork and desk research.

Deputy Mayor of Clare, Councillor Pat Burke, will present certificates to participants of the course while there also will be guest speakers and project displays.

The ‘Reading Your Local Landscape’ initiative marked 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage and was hosted as part of Clare Culture & Creativity Strategy 2018-2022 and the Clare Heritage Plan 2017-2023.
