How we are Delivering

Our COVID-19 Response Plan, led by the Organisation Support and Development directorate, is supporting the organisation to maintain the delivery of all core functions throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Through our COVID-19 Response Plan, our schools and FET colleges/centres remain operational in line with Government protocols and guidelines. Each of our schools and centres has a Response Team, a Response Plan and Lead Worker Representative(s). These teams, headed up by the Principal/Centre Manager, manage risk, suspected cases, control measures and communication. Set out below are the ways in which our Organisation Support and Development, Schools Division and Further Education and Training Division are working through the pandemic.

Organisation Support and Development

Our COVID-19 Response Plan is enabling us to provide full services to the community we serve; including Head Office functions (Finance, Human Resources, Corporate Services, ICT, Capital and Procurement), Schools and Further Education and Training. The ICT systems and processes we have in place are ensuring business and learning continuity throughout the pandemic. Our Head Office staff members continue to work remotely in line with the Level 5 restrictions introduced by the Government on 30/12/2020. Both our Marshal House and Station Road offices are closed to the public during these Level 5 restrictions. Email is the most effective method of communication at this time. The Contact page on this site provides a comprehensive list of email addresses for the core sections of the organisation

Schools

In line with Government restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19 by minimising movement, our schools began the delivery of online teaching and learning on Monday 11th January. As part of the Government’s ‘Covid-19 Resilience & Recovery 2021: The Path Ahead’, Leaving Certificate students returned to our schools on Monday 1st March. Fifth-year students returned two weeks later on the 15th of March. Under the Government plan, the remaining classes in our community colleges returned on the 12th of April – after the Easter holidays.

Our schools are maintaining regular contact with parents/guardians via the normal communication channels that the school uses with its school community (Aladdin, VSWare, ePortal, Way2Pay, email and regular updates and links to online learning platforms via their respective school websites, Facebook and Twitter).

As was the case during the first phase of the COVID-19 lockdown during March 2020, all our community colleges organised teaching and learning for students during the period from January to March via their online learning platforms (Microsoft Office 365, Apple iCloud and Google for Education).

You can use the links below to access the learning platform unique to each school (details available from your local school);

Please note that Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board Schools only permit students to engage with their teachers through these approved platforms only.

Staff members in our community colleges have been provided with training and ongoing support in the use of ‘Distance Learning’ methodologies, in sustaining learning and teaching where appropriate.

If you would like more information on Distance Learning and how it works, the Department of Education has a dedicated technology in education portal, a website that supports schools. Click here for more information on the portal.

Our schools continue enrolment plans for the 21/22 academic year with Open Nights/Days moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Information on these is available on respective school websites. Click here for a map and contact information for all our schools.

Further Education and Training

In line with Government restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19 by minimising movement, you should still not travel to our Further Education and Training Colleges/Centres without prior agreement from your learning practitioner.

Tuition is PRIMARILY ONLINE, with our Further Education and Training Colleges and Centres open allowing essential tuition to take place on-site, that is, those activities that are not capable of being delivered online and are time-critical for learners e.g. time-critical assessments. This will continue until further notice. For full details on what this means, view the LEVEL 5 PLAN on our FET website.

Comprehensive information on the Return to Learning for FET learners and a full list of Frequently Asked Questions is also available on the COVID-19 page on our FET website.

Our IRGSS team provides information and guidance support via our FREEPHONE 1800 70 70 77 number, as well as through the coursechoices@lcetb.ie email.
