Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board facilitates and supports community-based adult learning to a wide range of groups across the region. Further Education and Training allows learners to identify their own needs and the desires of their communities. Courses are developed in collaboration with communities and delivered locally.
By registering as a partner with the ETB you will be able to apply for funding in the form of tuition hours to deliver locally-based, learner-centred Further Education and Training courses.

Who may apply?

Subject to availability, funding is provided to community and voluntary groups who are involved in the provision of educational activities for specified adult target groups. The supports provided are to enable disadvantaged adults to avail of community education at minimal or no cost. Therefore, priority is given to groups in disadvantaged areas, projects aimed at especially disadvantaged groups, educational activities that lead to progression of the individual and the group, and also education that has national accreditation.

Activities exclusively involving children and school-going teenagers are ineligible under this scheme. It is not intended to fund existing services – either voluntary or paid, nor is it available on a continuous full-time basis.

What can groups apply for?

Funding will be made available in the form of tuition hours to deliver specific education courses and tutors will be paid directly by Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board.

Process

There is a multi-stage process involved in applying for tuition support:

  1. Community Groups initially apply to register as a community partner with the ETB.
  2. The ETB will annually invite registered partners to make a bulk-hours application with a broad outline of a plan for the coming year.
  3. Once this application is approved, community partners will be required to sign a Service Level Agreement with the ETB.
  4. Community partners will then complete an individual drawdown request for each individual course instance.

Partner requirements

  • All individuals engaging in approved courses must complete registration for the course on www.fetchcourses.ie, the national FET course hub, where details such as PPS number, economic status, and previous education are mandatory requirements. Community partners will be expected to communicate this to prospective learners in advance of the courses and to support the registration process.
  • Registering partners will be required to sign a Service Level Agreement (governance and accountability) with the ETB once a bulk hours application has been approved.
  • Venues must have Public Liability Insurance cover and comply with Health and Safety Regulations.
