Gareth O’Connell Appointed Deputy Principal at Coláiste Chiaráin, Croom

Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board has announced the appointment of Gareth O’Connell as the new Deputy Principal of Coláiste Chiaráin, Croom, County Limerick. Gareth brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role where he will join the community college’s existing Senior Management Team of Principal Gerard O’Sullivan and Deputy Principal Evelyn Canty.

Welcoming the announcement, ETB Acting Chief Executive, Donncha Ó Treasaigh, said: “Limerick and Clare ETB extends a warm welcome to Gareth and wishes him every success in his new role at Coláiste Chiaráin.”

A graduate of the University of Limerick, Gareth is a qualified teacher of English and History and has a Masters in History, a BA in English and History, and a Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management. He also graduated with a Higher Diploma in Education from NUIG. Prior to his appointment at Coláiste Chiaráin, Gareth held various leadership positions within the education sector including several years as an Assistant Principal at Coláiste Clavin, Meath.

Speaking about his new role, Gareth said: “I am passionate about integrating digital technologies into teaching, learning, and assessment, an area which Coláiste Chiaráin is nationally renowned for and I am eager to continue this work at the school. I am also committed to promoting co-curricular and extracurricular activities and will work closely with the school community to enhance these opportunities for all our students.”

Also welcoming Gareth’s appointment, Principal of Coláiste Chiaráin, Gerard O’Sullivan said: “I am delighted to welcome Gareth to our team. His experience and passion for educational leadership will be a tremendous asset to our school community. I look forward to working closely with him in his new role as we continue to develop and enhance the student experience at Coláiste Chiaráin. I have no doubt that his contributions will support our ongoing commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and forward-thinking learning environment for all in the school.”
