Literacy Week Desmond College

Literacy Week was a huge success at Desmond College this week with over 8 million combined words read for the Word Millionaire. A school wide Drop Everything and Read National initiative saw all teachers and students participating on Friday.

The First Year Team Spelling Bee held in the library was really exciting and with teams being separated by a whisker after several rounds of Top Spelling!

The standard of digital literacy Piccollage multi modal text in 2nd year showed the commitment by students and teachers to incorporate technology in the classroom with Ms Whites class producing a web charter on safe internet use for our students.

Desmond College presents “The Way of the Cross”

The Way of the Cross is now in its fourteenth year. Our pageant over the years has become part of the liturgical life of Desmond College and also of the parish of Newcastle West and surrounding areas.

Our pageant involves the support of our students, teachers, our local clergy and of course the wonderful support we receive from the public. Our re-enactment of Christ’s last journey has brought people from all over west limerick and has done so every year. Desmond College presents “The Way of the Cross’ on Friday 12th April 2019 – leaving Calvary Graveyard at 2.20pm. It promises to be a spectacular event
