Last Thursday saw the return of the popular Enterprise Morning series at Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board’s College of FET, LCFE Mulgrave Street Campus. The informative event was hosted by Hilary McCann, Head of Business and IT, and featured a wealth of guest speakers from a variety of business sectors who shared their expertise with learners.
Elaina Fitzgerald Kane from Woodlands House Hotel & Spa, Adare, and current President of the Irish Hotels Federation was the first speaker of the day. Elaina shared her experience of working within a family business and stressed the importance of “valuing the people you work with because they are part of your family.” Adaptability was another key message from Elaina, however her main point, which was echoed through all the speeches at the event, was to “love what you do”.
Guest speaker Nick Whittome, MD of NTES Limited spoke to learners about “how having a passion for what you work at means that no day feels like a day’s work” and also said “surround yourself with a team of people who love what they do and the world is your oyster.”
This message was further emphasised by Garrett Landers, owner of Garrett’s Quality Butchers, who having lived and worked all over the world before making his home in Limerick, said that “his love for his profession is what keeps him happy, excited and enthusiastic.”
ETB Further Education and Training Manager, Eimear Brophy, finished off the Enterprise Morning with an inspiring speech commending the learners on their focus and drive. Eimear also spoke about progression, both into the world of work or continued study saying “plans change but your goal should be your guide and your passion.”
