Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board Welcomes European Teacher Academy Initiative

Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board recently welcomed the launch of the IDEAL FUTURE: European Teacher Academy, a new European Union co-funded initiative aimed at developing digital leadership in education and providing professional learning and training for educators across Europe.

“We are delighted to see the launch of this innovative initiative,” said Donncha Ó Treasaigh, Director of Schools for Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. “The IDEAL FUTURE partnership across European states represents a fantastic opportunity for our educators to become certified digital pedagogical leaders and digital educational leaders. It will help us meet the challenges of the digital age by enhancing our skills in areas such as digital resources, teaching and learning, and assessment, all while gaining valuable experience with cutting-edge technologies, including AI.”

He also praised the collaborative nature of the project. “This is a great example of European partnership in action. The programme’s collaborative hub will allow educators to share best practices and insights with colleagues from across the continent, helping us all to stay ahead of future trends in education. I am confident that this initiative will have a lasting positive impact on the quality of education not just in our region, but throughout Europe.”

Through the IDEAL FUTURE hub, participants will:

  • Engage with professional learning in digital leadership, pedagogy, AI, ethics, and inclusion

  • Join monthly live events exploring cutting-edge digital tools and practices

  • Earn micro-credits (ECTS) and work towards European certification

  • Connect with a collaborative European network of educators sharing practices and future trends in education

Limerick and Clare ETB Schools Division has an exemplary Community of Practice (CoP) of Digital Leaders across all its Community National Schools, Special School, and Community Colleges involved in this partnership. The CoP is led by Ms. Ciara Ní Dhrisceoil of Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh, an Apple Distinguished School.

The IDEAL FUTURE: European Teacher Academy offers professional learning and training in various DigCompEdu competency areas, including professional engagement, digital resources, teaching and learning, assessment, and empowerment/inclusion. Participants can earn European Certification and even ECTS credits for their learning.

Together with its European partners, Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board is proud to support educators and school leaders to grow as digital pedagogical and educational leaders – helping shape the future of digital education across Europe.
