A new promotional video celebrating Limerick as one of Ireland’s leading student destinations has been launched by Limerick City and County Council in collaboration with Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (Limerick and Clare ETB), University of Limerick (UL), Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) and Mary Immaculate College (MIC).
The Experience Limerick video forms part of the Limerick Student City campaign and is being rolled out across social media as part of a targeted CAO Deadline campaign throughout January, ahead of CAO Deadline Day on 1 February 2026.
Bernadette Cullen, Chief Executive of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, said the campaign highlights the range of learning opportunities available in the region:
“As a key partner in the delivery of tertiary education in the region, Limerick and Clare ETB is proud to stand alongside our higher education colleagues in the Limerick Student City campaign. This initiative shows students that there are many high-quality ways to learn, progress and succeed in Limerick. Through further education and training, we offer flexible and accessible pathways aligned to real career opportunities, while reinforcing Limerick as a welcoming city with a vibrant and supportive student life.”

The collaborative campaign is unique in Ireland and comes at a time of growing demand for education and training, with CAO applications exceeding 83,000 in 2025 and expected to rise further in 2026.
Limerick is home to an estimated 50,000 students and learners, including approximately 16,000 engaged in further education, apprenticeships and vocational training, underlining the important role of the ETB sector in supporting lifelong learning and skills development.
The video follows learners from Limerick and Clare ETB, UL, TUS, MIC as they move from campus life into the heart of the city, showcasing Limerick’s cultural life, social spaces, outdoor amenities and strong sense of belonging.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, said students play a vital role in the life of the city: “Students bring enormous energy, creativity and diversity to Limerick and are central to what makes the city such a great place to live and learn.”
Príomh Chomhairleoir, Cllr Catherine Slattery, highlighted the wider impact of Limerick’s education sector saying: “A strong student city model supports investment, job creation and long-term opportunity for graduates and learners.” and Head of Marketing and Communications at Limerick City and County Council, Donn O’Sullivan, said the video focuses on the lived student experience: “It shows what life in Limerick really feels like, beyond the classroom.”
