Last week students from Colaiste Chiarain, Croom attended the “Macbeth Session” delivered by Cyclone Rep, a Theatre in Education Company. Since Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” is on the Leaving Certificate course, this session was of huge benefit to the students.
Every year the English department organise for students at both Junior and Senior cycle to view these sessions. “We feel that these sessions explore all the relevant aspects of the play that the students need to focus on for their state examination. The actors perform key scenes from the play, take questions from the audience and discuss a variety of topics including themes, symbolism and stagecraft all of which are key to achieving a high grade in the exam”, Mary-Kate Hanley, teacher of English at Colaiste Chiarain.
A great day was had by all and we wish the students every success in their upcoming state exams this June.
