LCETB Announces New Principal Appointments in Clare

Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB) today confirmed the appointment of new principals to two of its schools in County Clare. The positions arose from vacancies in Ennis Community College and St. John Bosco Community College, Kildysart.

Brian O’Donoghue has been appointed as Principal of Ennis Community College/Gaelcholáiste an Chláir. Currently Deputy Principal at St. Munchin’s College in Limerick, Mr O’Donoghue is an honours graduate of NUI Maynooth and has seventeen years teaching experience. He has broad experience in school management and has been Deputy Principal of St. Munchin’s College for the past six years. The current Principal of Ennis Community College, John Cooke, will be moving to a new position in Galway as Principal of Coláiste na Coiribe.

Commenting on the appointment, George O’Callaghan, LCETB Chief Executive, said: “We sincerely thank John for his contribution to Ennis Community College/Gaelcholaiste an Chláir in his role as Principal over the last number of years and wish him every success in his new role. We extend a warm welcome to Brian and wish him every possible success and happiness in his role as Principal.”

Denis O Rourke has been appointed as Principal of St. John Bosco Community College, Kildysart. Currently an Assistant Principal in Ennis Community College, Mr O Rourke is an honours graduate of the University of Limerick and has a total of fourteen years teaching experience in a number of post-primary schools. He took up a teaching post in Ennis Community College in 2010 where he has gained experience in school management and has been Assistant Principal since 2014. The current Principal of St. John Bosco Community College, Liam O’Mahoney, was recently appointed Principal of the new Community College for Limerick South-West.
