On Tuesday the 26th January next Jake Bell 6th LCA student at Coláiste na Trócaire will join twenty three other students in Dublin to make the onward journey to Strasbourg as part of the Michael Sweetman Trust Team to take part in the Euroscola exercise.
It all began when students began working on their Social Education Contemporary Issues Task and Ms. Bunyan (Social Education Teacher) encouraged students to enter their chosen issue into the competition. Issues studied included the migrant crisis, drug and alcohol addiction, child labour, racism, homelessness and poverty. Students were later interviewed by Eamon Fitzgerald on behalf of the Michael Sweetman Trust Competition. Students enjoyed the experience as they were afforded the opportunity of presenting and engaging in dialogue about their chosen issue. When details of the competition winners emerged Coláiste na Trócaire was informed that Jake Bell was successful in joining the team that will depart for Strasbourg next week.
Jake is very excited about joining the team and is working hard in his preparations for the Parliament. On his return Jake will also be expected to submit a report following his experience.
From all at Coláiste na Trócaire a huge congratulations to you Jake and we wish you well in Strasbourg!
