Mulgrave Street Campus Launches FET Taster Series

As part of its celebration of this year’s College Awareness Week our College of FET, Mulgrave Street Campus in Limerick City took the opportunity to officially launch its new FET Taster Series.

College Awareness Week promotes the benefits of post-second level education for all, supports students to become ‘college-ready’, and showcases local role models. Throughout the week our Mulgrave Street Campus hosted events demonstrating the many positives of Further Education and Training, featuring the themes of Progression and Career Options, FET The Smart Choice, The FET Journey and The Learner Experience.

Other key events included visits to local schools, CAO information sessions and talks about progression routes to higher education. Other activities included past learner role model podcasts, industry presentations on career options and various activities organised by the campus Student Union and Learning Hub, which enhance the learner experience.

This year’s week-long celebration also proved the perfect time to launch a new and innovative FET Taster Series which has been created especially for second-level schools.

The aim of this series is to provide second-level students with an insight into the importance, relevance and excitement of Further Education and Training programmes at the campus. The series is designed for Transition Year and Leaving Cert Applied students and Fifth and Sixth-Year students.

Speaking about the new FET Taster Sessions, Shane Cullinane, Principal said: “Here at College of FET, Mulgrave St Campus, we are looking forward to working with second-level schools throughout the Mid-West region and to strengthening our working relationships with them.”
