LIMERICK College of Further Education (LCFE) was delighted to welcome Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan onto their campus at Mulgrave Street to launch the LCFE College Awareness Week Programme on Monday 23. Minister O’Sullivan said, “I am delighted to play an active role in College Awareness Week once again this year.”
During her visit to LCFE the Minister was interviewed on LCFE’s radio station, iMix, by our Advanced Media learners and met learners from Colaiste MhichÍl, CBS Sexton Street who were attending The LCFE College Experience.
As part of the LCFE ethos of promoting Employer and Community Engagement, LCFE Beauty & Complimentary Therapy learners are creating the hair and make-up for The Cecilian Musical Society’s ‘The Addams Family’ currently running in Lime Tree Theatre. Tying in with recent developments at LCFE, Highnelly ran a cycle workshop, and Smart Travel, Spin SW and Goshh also attended.
CAO Workshops by the LCFE Guidance Team ran throughout the week along with Study Skills Workshops for Learners.
LCFE director Pat Maunsell commented that “College Awareness Week is a great opportunity for us to promote the excellent courses and services we provide to the people the Mid-West Region. Minister Jan O’Sullivan’s visit to LCFE is an endorsement of the importance of the Further Education sector to this region and the key role which LCFE plays in this sector.”
