Limerick and Clare ETB Students Lead the Way in Promoting School Ethos

Students and staff from across Limerick and Clare ETB schools gathered at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) Moylish Campus recently for the Ethos Ambassadors Shared Learning Day.

Organised by Róisín O’Leary, Limerick and Clare ETB Ethos Coordinator, the event brought together Ethos Ambassadors from schools across the region to celebrate their achievements and share experiences of promoting the Limerick and Clare ETB Ethos within their school communities.

The Shared Learning Day recognised the important role students have played throughout the 2025–2026 academic year in promoting the core values of care, respect, community, equality and excellence within their schools. Students participated in collaborative activities, reflected on initiatives undertaken in their schools, and explored ways to continue strengthening student voice, inclusion and positive school culture.

As part of the event, students were presented with certificates in recognition of their accomplishments and dedication to demonstrating and embedding the Limerick and Clare ETB Ethos throughout the academic year.

The Ethos Ambassadors Programme reflects the wider ETBI Patrons’ Framework on Ethos, which supports ETB schools nationwide in embedding the values of excellence in education, care, equality, community and respect throughout school life. The programme encourages student leadership and active participation, helping students to promote inclusion, wellbeing and positive engagement within their school communities.

Donncha O’Treasaigh, Director of Schools at Limerick and Clare ETB, said: “The Ethos Ambassadors Programme is a powerful example of the ETB ethos in action. The commitment shown by students across our schools reflects the values of care, respect, community, equality and excellence that underpin ETB education, and we are proud of the positive contribution these young people continue to make within their school communities.”

The event also recognised the ongoing commitment of participating schools to fostering environments where the values of care, respect, community, equality and excellence are visible in everyday school life.

Speaking at the event, Róisín O’Leary acknowledged the enthusiasm and commitment shown by students and staff throughout the year: “The Ethos Ambassadors Programme highlights the positive contribution young people make within their school communities every day. It was wonderful to see students from across Limerick and Clare come together to share ideas, celebrate achievements and recognise the importance of promoting inclusion, respect and community within our schools.”

The Ethos Ambassadors Programme continues to encourage student voice, leadership and active participation across Limerick and Clare ETB schools, supporting students to become positive role models within their communities.
