The first full meeting of the newly-convened board of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board for the 2024 – 2029 term took place on Monday, 14 October 2024. The new board has now been fully constituted. It includes elected council members from both Limerick and Clare County Councils, as well as staff nominees, parent nominees, and representatives from special interest and community groups.
Commenting on the first meeting of the new board, Acting Chief Executive, Donncha Ó Treasaigh, said: “I welcome the establishment of the board and thank all its members for their commitment to supporting the vision and goals of the ETB for the benefit of the communities we serve.”
The meeting took place at the multi-million euro new Mungret Community College school campus located at a 10-acre greenfield site in Mungret. The new 11,379m² school, over three levels, opened in September and will cater for 1,000 students, making the state-of-the-art campus one of the largest schools in the region. Board members were very impressed with the high quality of facilities in the new school during their visit.
Also commenting on the first meeting, newly-elected Board Chair, Cllr Kieran O’Hanlon, said: “Limerick and Clare ETB is dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all through its commitment to excellence, innovation and partnership. I and the elected members of the board look forward to supporting the effective functioning of the organisation in the term ahead.”
