Learners at Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board’s College Of FET, Mulgrave St Campus took centre stage at Belltable Limerick recently, hosting an Arts Festival on Thursday May 25 and Friday May 26 at the popular city-centre venue.
The two day festival was a unique celebration of the creativity and talent at the Limerick city campus which showcased a wide range of art forms including film, photography, animation, fashion, music and visual art. The festival provided a proud platform for learners to introduce their work to the community, while also promoting the many creative offerings available at the Mulgrave Street Campus.
There was a superb turnout for the event as festival-goers in Limerick enjoyed the opportunity to observe the artistic vision of learners, campus departments, and emerging artists from various disciplines who came together over the two days to express themselves through their own unique perspectives.

Those who attended over the two days got the chance to enjoy a variety of events and activities, including film screenings, photography showcases and fashion shows. They were also given the opportunity chance to hear new music and explore the imaginative world of animation through the ears and eyes of the learners.
Limerick City and County Metropolitan District Cathaoirleach Olivia O’Sullivan officially launched the two day festival on the Thursday evening and said she is eager to see more events like it “I’m a firm fan of festivals and I would say we need more arts festivals in Limerick and it is so wonderful to see this tonight. I’m a former learner myself and spent a wonderful year in Mulgrave street, they sent me on a track that I hadn’t envisioned going on at that time. I ended up doing degree in Limerick School of Art and Design and that was all as a result of being an adult learner at the Mulgrave Street Campus.”

Some of the many highlights of the two day festival included a visual art exhibition ‘Faces of Limerick’ featuring over 150 mixed media pieces, podcasts and the screening of a variety of learner films. Visitors were also given the opportunity to see learners creativity in the mediums of Photography, Animation and Animation Stop-Motion talents on Thursday evening.
On Friday then there was fashion show with a variety of creations from Fashion Design, Textile Portfolio and Dressmaking learners followed by a music showcase which was the perfect way to bring the exciting two day festival to a close.

Speaking about the success of the event, Shane Cullinane, principal of Mulgrave Street Campus said “Through Limerick and Clare ETB’s College of FET, Mulgrave Street Campus we were delighted to offer these learners a platform, they worked really hard all year with their tutors in terms of developing their different mediums including film, art, animation, photography, storytelling and so much more and we are really proud of them. We are also very grateful for the vision and drive of our event organiser Jayne Foley who helped get the festival up and running and we look forward to hopefully doing it all again next year.”
